The Delamar Traverse City consistently receives high praise for its luxurious accommodations, outstanding service, and beautiful lakefront location. Guests rave about the upscale amenities, including multiple pools, a spa, and on-site dining, particularly during the winter months when the heated outdoor pool and hot tub provide a unique experience. While some past reviews highlighted construction issues and inconsistent operational aspects, the overall sentiment remains overwhelmingly positive.
Our experience at the Delamar Traverse City was exceptional. This was a quick, but special trip to celebrate my Wife's 50th birthday. The staff was super friendly and accommodating from the moment we walked in the door, while the lobby and sprawling yet open hallway compelled us to peruse the guest options (i.e. heated indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, onsite highly rated restaurant, comfortable indoor and outdoor gathering areas, outdoor bar, great coffee stand, etc.). We were surprised by an upgraded room - corner suite due to our special celebration. The room was amazing - spacious, comfortable and with a great lake view, a full and half bath. The workout room is small and leaves a bit to be desired if you are used to a gym, but does the trick for a one-off cardio or strength training. I would highly recommend the Delamar for a romantic getaway, a great place to stay for a wine tour on the Old Mission Point, a family trip, a work trip and more. This is a first rate place that is worth the slightly higher price vs. nearly competitive hotels. Thank you Delamar Staff for an amazing experience!
We loved our stay over Memorial Day Weekend. Service was warm and friendly, room was very clean and comfortable. We also loved all the amenities offered. The coffee bar, heated outdoor pool, and the recommendations for dining was great. Can't imagine staying anywhere else when in Traverse City! We will be back.
Delamar is the best venue for a wedding in Traverse City, Michigan hands down. Susan Scoby and her team (Kim, Erica, Kirstin, and everyone) will take care of every detail. From our first meeting, Susan was professional, and confident. It was clear she had a vision for our wedding, but also, she had plenty of room in her vision for our input as well. Throughout the year leading up to the wedding, I had many questions, and anxieties for the team at the Delamar. They never lost patience with me. They were very calm, professional, and responsive. If I had a question, they had an answer. They were excellent at meeting with us or taking a phone call and helping us figure out the smallest of details or the biggest worries. We all worked together tirelessly for over a year to put together a wedding that was right for us. On our special day, it all paid off. Everything was stunningly beautiful and perfectly executed. The food was bountiful, and delicious. The drinks were over the top scrumptious as well. I could not have asked for a more perfect night to celebrate our love. It was just amazing in every way. I have never been treated so well in my entire life, and I probably never will be again. Everything was perfect, and magical. I felt like I was a princess. It was just truly incredible. I can never thank them enough. If I could do it all over again, I would, and I would choose Delamar every time. Many cheers, and thanks to Susan Scoby, and her team at the Delamar in Traverse City, Michigan. From Jenn and Scott (March 2026).
We had a great experience at Delamar! My husband and I stayed here for my birthday weekend and our stay was great. We wanted a nice, relaxing weekend getaway and everything was perfect! The hotel is in a great location close to all the restaurants and shops on Front St, and not far from the wineries on Old Mission Peninsula. The hotel and rooms are extremely nice and updated and all the staff were so kind! The heated outdoor pool was really cool it’s like a big hot tub! It was in the 30°s and windy when we came, so the pool was around 90°. You can get cocktails at the bar and bring them into the pool with you and there’s also servers walking around that will get you drinks! We loved that it was adults only after 9pm and they actually enforce this. We will be staying here again for sure our next time visiting TC!
I paid just over $130- for the room rate in the winter, which was honestly a steal for the quality of the hotel. Yes, the coffee bar and mini bar prices are outrageous. The outdoor pool and hot tub weren't open even though they were supposed to be, but I still thought it was a great stay for the price.
Even though it is the winter on the bay we had a lovely time at The Delamar. Outdoor heated pool in the snow was fun. Hot tub and sauna were wonderful. Staff helpful, room was nice and clean. I made sure they didn’t charge me for anything I didn’t eat or drink out of my room, and they never did. Everything was clean. I will say the atmosphere is more like an adults only resort. I have 4 kids but I really appreciate that it was quiet and relaxing. I wouldn’t bring my kids and that’s okay.
Winter get away everything was great both pools were perfect temperatures hot tub is hot and sauna was cooking. Food and drink awesome and the staff kind and friendly everywhere. Downtown TC is very close but it was too cold to really enjoy it.
Stayed here awhile back for a mid winter get away and was not impressed by the outcome. The outdoor pool was certainly not warm enough to swim but that's not the reason for a bad review. Our room was a suite that was under construction. When we got to our room we noticed it was completely bare minus a TV and stand. It had a clothes rack in it to hang up clothes which we thought was odd. Come to find out our room was under construction and was not supposed to be rented out. When we talked with the manager he confirmed the room was not supposed to be rented out and they would give us a complimentary two night stay in the future. When we called to use it a manager change had happened and the new manager would not honor our agreement even though I have the email. It was extremely disappointing.
We’ve celebrated NYE last year, the year before last, and the year before that…Delamar earned five stars. This year was a flop, the hotel was disappointing. The outdoor pool wasn’t open except on New Year’s Eve, and even then, it had limited hours (11-9). Complimentary coffee and water in the lobby was gone, which meant we were left to order from the pool bar and wait in a long line. We always looked forward to sitting in the lounge by the fireplace, it’s super cozy; however the fire wasn’t working at all. When I posed a complaint, the manager / bellhop said he’d give me 50% off my stay. Upon leaving, I requested a paper receipt and he only took 50% our first night which was conveniently cheaper than NYE night. When I asked about it, the girl at the front desk condescendingly pointed out to me that he directed her to explain it was just for the first night. She stared at me, without blinking, burning a pitiful lasting impression of this place in my mind and said, “we did this for you since the fireplace wasn’t working.” Boo ? Positive part: five stars for the room, Chris the bartender, and these fresh flowers. Oh, and the tall dude that says “happy new year” on Jan 1.
Very dissapointed with our stay here this December. The only reason we stayed here was for the heated outside pool. Both the inside pool and hot tub were closed and the outdoor pool was too cold to use (not the advertised 93 degrees). The front desk was only able to offer a gift card that expired the next day that we spend on an overpriced breakfast we weren't even planning on eating there. Rooms were nice and clean but didn't make up for the unavailable amenities.
