The hotel is nice enough, but I will say that it is not above a 3 star location. I think labeling it a resort is misleading. It makes it seem like it’s going to be nicer than it is. The included breakfast is is essentially gas station stuff. I didn’t get it the second morning as it looked like the sandwhiches were crusted in freezer for longer than someone would like. For the price point, I think you over pay for being on the beach. All they have is some chairs out there. You’re not offered anything else for what you’ve already paid. You have access to boats and kayaks which is nice but you have to rent them through another company. I think at the very least some kayaks should be part of what you pay for. Obviously you wouldn’t expect boat rental at that price but I just don’t see anything that makes this location special. The rooms were simple. Nothing wrong with them but nothing special. We did have to ask them to send someone up to clear the million spiders off the balcony. It’s the beginning of the summer season so I get it but if someone pays for a balcony room I’d expect it to be despidered prior to check in. Lol The men they sent up did a great job, though. They really took their time with it and really tried to make sure they got them all, which I appreciated. The staff were very nice. So, there’s nothing wrong with the place and I definitely recommend it, I just don’t think there’s anything about it that would bring me back. I’m also going to note that it’s time to upgraded the TVs to smart ones. I think the hotel should be in the under 200 range or increase what they offer or improve the quality of what they have. I would stay there again if I needed to, but would probably try out some place else if the option is there.

Gorgeous views , friendly and attentive staff , they have a large pool and hot tub or if thats not your preference, they sit on a sugar sand beach right on the east arm of the Grand Traverse bay. With loungers , chairs and umbrellas to maximize your enjoyment or get that summer tan you cant go wrong at the Sugar Beach Resort . King size pillow top mattresses and beautiful walk out patios take you straight to the beach ?? . It is only minutes from historic downtown Traverse City where there is plenty of shopping to be done in a vast array of stores as well as plenty of places to grab a bite in one of many unique pubs , restaurants , or food trucks available .

We really liked our stay here. The breakfast boxes are genius. More hotels need to do this. Room was clean and spacious bathroom was large. Beautiful view of the lake. We will definitely be back.

We absolutely love this hotel!! When we come to TC this is where we always stay! They have the best of everything!! You won’t be disappointed when you stay here, Staff is wonderful, everyone is so nice. Beds are comfortable, showers have great pressure and feel so good!! It’s very clean. Pool and hot tub and refreshing and relaxing. Plus the lounge for entertainment and food is the best too! You cannot go wrong with staying here!!

Room was clean, but aging. The breakfast was the Worst I could imagine. A box with orange juice, plastic bottle water, cold spotted banana and either cold cereal, a donut, a muffin or some packaged boiled eggs. Kind of lame. The coffee could have been better if you could get some actual cream, not a singular package of a half a teaspoon of powdered creamer. Pool and hot tub were nice. I was just really let down by the breakfast. If I paid summer prices and got that, id be really disappointed

We really enjoyed our stay at Sugar Beach. Our admin person. Joshua was really friendly from the beginning and took care of the reservation and he was very clear and very informative about all the steps in and insured that we were very well informed about everything our beachfront room was really clean and very nice and the view was great.. We use the pool and the Jacuzzi and everything was super clean. We really appreciate the stay and it was really nice.

Great beach front 3 start resort , we enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the room 104 , which had 1 king bed , patio from which we could access the beach directly. There is hot pool for adults. Room and amenities were neat and clean, well maintained, except the standing shower floor was slippery and the shower head needed upgrade - only complaint I have. Parking is plenty. Tv was smart and upgraded , Starbucks coffee as the complimentary in-room coffee ? Would love to come back if I get a good discounted deal , it will be pricy during summer.

A shout out to Daniel who was at the front desk during my 24 hour stay. His welcoming presence to this lovely spot on the water permeated the entire experience. Even in the deep mid-winter, Sugar Beach was a respite from the world. What a view from my room! How lovely to have a choice of boxed breakfast that could be enjoyed at will. VERY comfy beds and clean rooms for a solid night sleep and all amenities for a quick get away. Maybe a new December tradition?

This place was awesome!! Super friendly staff, fair prices, and a great hot tub. 100% will be coming back to this hotel anytime I stay in TC. Also the fact the room had a TV in the bathroom to watch in the tub?? They know how to let you relax!

Our go-to hotel for the area. Prices are consistently among the lowest in the whole region. Location is super convenient. Beds are comfy, showers are hot and water pressures good. Hot tub and coffee are great bonuses. Definitely recommend!
