Guests consistently praise the resort's spacious, comfortable accommodations and exceptional family amenities, including the indoor water park and golf courses. However, recent reviews highlight significant issues with outdated room amenities, temperature control, and inconsistent staff responsiveness.
Hotel was very nice. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The pools were amazing, its crazy swimming in a warm pool in freezing weather. Awesome experience. Overall had a great time. Will go back.
We took advantage of the Valentines Day special and it was beautiful! The brunch. Buffet at Aerie was Marie Gras themed and high class. Enjoyed the outdoor hot tubs during winter and the comfortable and relaxing bed!
The hotel is well run, rooms are large, have great views, and have all the amenities. The pool and saunas in the spa are wonderful. You have to ask to get access to the locker room and has the little sauna's and showers, but it's certainly a nice upgrade. So far the only problem I found is the TV is not a smart TV, old style with pay-per-view, but not a big deal.
Nicole, Luciana, and David Baker at the Health Club couldn’t have made my daughter and son’s experience at the club any greater! The kids and I made ourselves right at home in lobby cozied up by the fireplace between The waterpark the fine dining. The staff made us feel welcomed, accepted, and even the windows were clean! Definitely made gave us the wow factor that made for great memories!
My boyfriend and I stayed here to celebrate our anniversary and were disappointed with the experience, especially considering how much we spent on our weekend getaway. We stayed on the 15th floor of the tower and could clearly hear a company party directly above us that went on until 11:30 PM. Every single song, dance move was heard including the DJ wrapping up the event. It was like we were at the party with them. This made it very difficult to relax or enjoy our evening. If you are booking @ the tower make sure there are no events being held that weekend. The next morning we had an 80-minute couples massage scheduled. We were rushed in without being checked in, introduced to our therapists, or asked to confirm preferences—something we’ve always experienced at other resorts and spas. My boyfriend was also assigned a male therapist without any prior discussion. The entire experience felt unorganized and uncomfortable, and the vibe was completely off. Overall, this was not the relaxing or special anniversary experience we expected.
We had to stay an extra night in traverse due to a snow storm. Grand Traverse was extremely accommodating getting us in last minute. We spoke with Nicole at the front desk who was beyond helpful. Kid loved the pool.
Hi. We stayed at the tower at the hotel on 12th floor yesterday. Room and staff great. Room had great view of Lake Michigan. Room could have been a little better. Items needing to be solved or fixed: (1)Pop machine across from the room was completely out of soda. Plus $4 per soda is to much. Maybe $3 is better. (2)Coffee maker is terrible, like 20 years old. Has small 1 inch gauge on the back top side for water measure and you pour what you think is measure on the side but usually overfills cup and make a big mess. It's 2026, buy a single use Keurig and get with it. They work perfect and no mess and around $100. Plus 10x faster. (3)No hot water in shower. Waited 10 minutes and could only get luke warm water. Turned it the other way to make sure it was not on the other side an no it was ice cold, so had it correct but no warm water. Don't believe me. then go look up my name and try that shower in that room. (4)tv remote is junk. you have to get real close or hold it high to get the tv to change channels. Pain in the butt to operate. Spend $10 like I did and get a universal remote that lights up at night and works fantastic form distance. (5)Might want to have somebody working on your reviews also unless you don't care. I went thru them and quite a few dissatisfied people with no response back. (6)Send me something for helping fix your room that needs fixing. Should not have to tell you. Staff at front desk didn't real care on some of the problems and don't think they are fixing it for the next person. Got my time invested here to help you! (7)Love the place. Love to golf The Bear in summer. Great view. Friendly people. But you just have a couple items to fix above and you are perfect and perfect should be the goal correct? Thanks for letting us stay.
I just can't give this place a better rating. Room was fine, but climate control would not make the room any warmer than 68 degrees. We stayed for new years eve. Went to the Aerie restaurant on the top floor. Place was cold, though there were heaters at the tables. Still was cold. Some of the food came out luke warm/cold. It was not, in any way, worth $125 per person. The wine menu was a bit ridiculous with some wine glasses over $25. I guess if the food was better maybe it would make more sense. The sports bar was cozy, but the bartenders were just off. There were a few people in there sitting at the bar flagging down the bartenders to literally beg for drinks. We ended up leaving and had to flag one of the two guys down just to get the bill and it wasn't really that crowded. We've never been to the hotel before, but we've been to a lot of places for new years that require tickets ahead of time and lists. At check-in there was a list of the activities for the night which included fireworks and the suggestion was to go watch from the restaurant we ate at earlier. None of the staff knew if there was a party up there, did we need a ticket, was it full, etc.
We recently stayed at the Grand Traverse Resort for a family trip with our kids, and overall it was a great experience that offered something for everyone. The highlight for our children was definitely the indoor water fun area. Having an indoor water park attached to the resort made it easy to keep the kids entertained regardless of the weather. Between the slides, splash areas, and pool features, they never got bored and were excited to go back each day. For the adults, the golf and tennis amenities really stood out. The resort’s golf courses are well-maintained and scenic, offering a challenging but enjoyable experience. It was a real treat to be able to step away for a round of golf while knowing the rest of the family was still having a great time on-site. The tennis facilities were also excellent, with well-kept courts and plenty of availability, making it easy to fit in some matches during our stay. The resort itself feels spacious and well-organized, which is especially important when traveling with kids. There’s a good balance between family-friendly energy and opportunities for adults to relax or stay active. Overall, the Grand Traverse Resort worked very well for a family getaway, combining fun, recreation, and convenience in one place.
Excellent, inviting with beautiful scenery. Staff is friendly and helpful. NiiJii restaurant breakfast was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the Maple French Toast. If you like a warm cinnamon roll you will love the French Toast. The breakfast potatoes were nicely seasoned with a slight crunch but soft and creamy inside and I usually don't like breakfast potatoes at all. Kudos to Sheri our server and Crissy the manager. We were a bit surprised that the full menu was not available on weekends and one item listed online was not available. However to our surprise, Crissy went to the bakery and brought back a freshly made chocolate croissant just for us. We are totally enjoying our stay and we are not done yet.
