Hotel Indigo Traverse City offers a beautiful and centrally located experience with friendly staff and stunning views. Recent reviews highlight both the hotel’s positive aspects, such as comfortable beds and welcoming atmosphere, and significant issues including inconsistent cleanliness and service failures, particularly regarding bar staff and check-in procedures.
We stay here whenever we are in Traverse City. Staff is so nice and accommodating. My husband loves the pillows! The view is gorgeous, centrally located, and easy access for walking and biking! Lovely hotel!
While the hotel is overall decent. Large rooms, nice views, friendly front desk and valet. However, there were a few hiccups on our recent stay at the Indigo Traverse City. 1) One of our rooms had not been properly cleaned. Dirty table, shower and fridge. No towels in the bathroom; as well as a couple of appliances not working, like a phone and the fireplace. I pointed this issue to the front desk and they remedied the situation promptly. 2) On New Years Eve, after coming back from the cherry drop with my family, I decided to stop by the hotel bar. The bar tender refused to serve me a drink saying I was slurring. The problem is that I actually was sober and believe that he "mistook" my accent for a slurred speech. This was a surreal situation, but I just left, not wanting to escalate things. Is that bartender completely incompetent and can't tell the difference between a drunk and a foreign accent? Is he bigoted? I reported this incident to the guy working the front desk that night; as well as to the manager the next morning. I am not sure management ended up talking to him. But that bar tender certainly need some sort of training.
We had a wonderful three day stay here. The staff were super friendly and accommodating and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful with an open shower and stone floors. The room was a bit dark and the desk/dresser surface was a bit chipped. But aside from hhese two negatives, this was a very comfortable stay. Our dog was comfortable as well and we appreciated the pet friendly vibe. We’d definitely stay again!
I stayed at the hotel in mid December 2025, definitely the off-season for Traverse City. Although the Google Maps directions were slightly confusing, I found the hotel easily enough, unloaded and checked in. (Note that parking is extra and ONLY valet parking is available.) The rooms are GORGEOUS and spacious with lovely decorations. I took several photos and friends raved about the look. Everyone in the hotel was warm and welcoming, which isn't always the case for me. (As a very tall transgender woman I sometimes get double takes or blank stares - instead at Hotel Indigo I got warm smiles and friendly faces.) I did not eat at the hotel restaurants, but it's an easy walk to the main drag in the downtown area (even in the cold December weather!) with lots of pubs and restaurants. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and highly recommend the hotel.
Best hotel in town. Location A+. Walk to everything and minutes to wineries of Old Mission. Will really got us situated and settled in. He went above and beyond more than once. Thanks Will. Breakfast is really good at the restaurant and I'd ask for Katie. She is a great server. We had a really clean room and well appointed. Awesome hotel for awesome area. Five stars!
While the rooms here are beautiful, with river stone tiles and open concept bathroom/shower, our stay here began very poorly. We initially arrived to check in about 4 pm, but were told that our room was not yet ready. After checking back in with Will working the front desk a few times, we finally got access to our room 6 HOURS after we should have been able to check in. For appeasement, we did receive some drink and breakfast coupons. While at the ground level bar we ordered cocktails. It was disappointing to receive a cocktail in a filthy plastic glass, when draft pints are served in actual glass. But otherwise, the bar servers were kind and attentive. The evening bartender on Thursday night was excellent in softening the blow of waiting on a room after an eighteen hour travel day. The Friday night of our stay we went up to the rooftop bar shortly before 4 pm, and immediately left. The scene was a full bar, very long line to order food and drinks, and one poor employee fending for his life. The valet service was always prompt, and a good value compared to any major city's top hotels. The food here is also stellar; the chefs here are doing it right. For the price per night of this hotel, I believe it is not quite worth the value. I understand help is difficult to find, and it is hindering the quality of this hotel in noticable ways.
It was a decent hotel. The staff were alright. It was a little pricey and the rooms were okay. They didn't have any little niceties (free breakfast or coffee/tea you could grab). But they'd be happy to sell you some. When you arrive, you're suddenly informed that you're forced to use their valet service and that this will cost you per day. That's a fun little trick to play. Everyone loves hidden fees.
