Guests praise the exceptional and accommodating staff, as well as the hotel's prime location and beautiful views in the downtown Traverse City area. However, the property suffers from significant wear and tear, with recurring issues regarding cleanliness, dated infrastructure, and inconsistent amenities like hot water and wifi.
I had a very pleasant stay at the Park Place hotel. Per other comments on the site, the hotel overall could use some touchups due to aging. But overall, I really liked the hotel. Staff was very friendly and accommodating and the room was clean and actually pretty large. I had not problems with the wifi either as I needed for work.
I hosted a memorial visitation and luncheon at the Park Place to honor my grandmother. The staff, location, food, and service were all exceptional. I live locally in Traverse City and have always heard great things about hosting events at the Park Place, but this was my first time. I would absolutely host another event there and recommend it to anyone needing a venue. Sasha, in particular, has exceptional customer service skills. She made sure everything was set up and ran smoothly for both events. Scott, the catering manager, was also a joy to work with. He had excellent recommendations and helped guide me through the entire planning process. Everyone who attended both events was blown away by the view and the food! Planning for a memorial service of course can be challenging, but the staff at the Park Place helped navigate through all of the details and made it as easy for me as possible. I will always be grateful for how special the services were they provided for me and for my family.
Great location in downtown Traverse City. The room we were put in had a very small bathroom. The carpet was very stained and had pet hair. The bed also had pet hair in it and smelled like dog. Rooms could definitely use some updates and improve on cleanliness between guests. The pool/ hot tub was the best part about our stay. We also had a very disturbing neighbor during our stay. The front desk could also be more friendly and welcoming.
We chose this hotel because of its historic character and were really looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately, the significant wear and tear throughout the property took away from what should have been a special stay. We paid a premium price for our room, yet it felt more comparable to a budget hotel rather than a historic property with character and charm. The restaurant also showed noticeable signs of neglect. Our breakfast table was in such worn condition that it genuinely felt uncomfortable to sit at, giving the impression of being unclean due to age and deterioration. This was disappointing, especially in a setting that should celebrate its history with pride and care. That said, the staff deserves sincere recognition. Everyone we interacted with was extremely kind, welcoming, and efficient, which truly made a difference in our stay. I hope there are plans in place to invest in updates and maintenance, as this building clearly has great potential. With proper care, it could once again reflect the historic quality and experience that guests expect — especially at premium prices.
5 STARS for my experience. Yesterday was my 70th birthday and upon checking in the clerk asked if we were here for any special occasion. My husband said yes and that it was my 70th birthday. The clerk was so kind, he upgraded us to the most beautiful room I’ve ever stayed in!!!! Plus 2 free drink vouchers for the top floor cocktail bar. Needless to say this all made for a very memorable 70th!!! Thank you, Joanie
Grateful we got the Black Friday pricing for discount. Stayed in West Wing, brought our two dogs and paid an extra $50/night for having them. I don’t mind paying extra to have my dogs; however, I anticipate the room to be immaculate when we have to pay so much extra per night. What I found was very different. Very small bathroom with ill fitting toilet seat. I called the front desk to ask if it was possible there was no hot water and the person who answered replied, “no, you just have to let it run for a hot minute.” I had already been running 2 sinks and the shower for 3 minutes and no sign of even warm water. We ended up getting hot water after 10 minutes of running all three. The carpets were very dirty and stained. The bed was comfy. The location is amazing.
We booked a "Cityview" room which was supposed to be in the tower but we were put in the 4 story annex building - was blamed on us booking through a 3rd party vendor. If the hotel can't honor their partners' bookings, they shouldn't be partners. Pros - The bed was comfy, and the happy hour was good. The staff in the whole place were very kind people. Good fridge and micro in the room. We were able to open the window, it was warm in the room. The water pressure in the shower was amazing. Quiet - did not hear neighbors above or below. The pool looked nice but we didn't have time to go in. Cons - the room - 339 - was small, awkward, bathroom was tiny where you had to go all the way in to close the door, should use pocket doors. We couldn't easily hang clothes in the closet - it was not deep enough. Some wallpaper was peeling. View was of the back parking lot. Overall, a good stay but would have preferred to stay in the room we paid for which was over $250/night.
We had a nice stay, but this hotel is not worth the price. It's in a great location, but everything else is just ok. The rooms feel very dated, and even though we were in a no pets room, one of the beds was covered in pet hair on arrival. The bed was pretty comfortable though. The shower took forever to get warm. Wifi rarely worked, and when it did, it kicked us off within a few minutes. The carpet in the hallways is coming up, with squares overlapping (trip hazard). The 2 elevators for the wing portion of the hotel are no synced, so you have to push the buttons for both. The restaurant was just ok, and had a limited breakfast menu given it's a restaurant not just a hotel style breakfast. However, the staff were friendly, and it was walking distance to downtown and the waterfront. It was also very quiet, which is a huge plus. Airport shuttle was helpful too, but you have to book it at least 48 hours ahead of time (even if you miss that window by a little bit, they won't let you book it). Overall, not sure I'd stay again, but I've had worse stays in other places.
