Pinestead Reef Resort offers a prime beachfront location with spacious rooms and full kitchens, frequently praised for its value and comfortable accommodations, including large balconies and ample space. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistent experiences with cleanliness, security, and room assignments, alongside some operational challenges.
Tight parking lot. Construction while we were there made things a little harder to get into the lot. Very comfortable beds. Nice updates. Good night sleep other than people being too loud at midnight.
Lovely place. Excellent location with a nice view. Made for the perfect Mother's Day weekend getaway. Love the fireplace entertainment stand!
Rooms are very spacious, and i clude full kitchens, and very nice showers and bathrooms, and the hotel itself has a very old(but in a good nostalgic way) feel to it! Beautiful view from the decks, and a nice pool, and Billiards room! Will definitely be staying here again.
They mixed our rooms up so when we went to go to our room someone was in it. Lack of communication. Other than that, the stay was decent. Good rooms for its price.
We own timeshare here and it's our happy place! The location can't be beat- right on the beach, easy access to the TART trail to bike anywhere, sidewalks to walk to nearby restaurants, stores, or (the kids'favorite) Pirates Cove. The rooms are wonderful with a full kitchen to save on food, but admittedly need some improving. Staff is always fantastic.
I like this place. The rooms are large and comfortable. The staff are friendly.
I would easily recommend this place over any other I’ve stayed. Very clean, lots of room at an exceptional price. Was more like a small apartment than a motel. Full kitchen, living room, huge balcony that was easily 2-3 times the size of a normal balcony. Plenty of space for everyone. 2 tvs. Staff was very nice. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!
Excellent view, room was ground level with patio open to the beach. Overall good value in an excellent location.
Pool, front desk staff, and location are all A+. With the great reviews we stayed here one night. Many of the beach chairs were broken and the balcony was pretty dirty. Property is very insecure. They gave us old school door keys (hello 1990’s) and there is no swipe card to enter the hotel itself. You can enter from any outside door during the night which leaves it open to anyone. Considering the size (length) this made us feel a little unsafe walking to and from the pool. I ended up with about 15 bug bites the next morning. Due to the severity of the reaction, they ended up being identified as bed bug bites. Luckily we had a two room and I was the only person in my room but this totally impacted the rest of my trip dealing with very painful, huge, and horribly itchy bites. It’s the first time in a long I’ve not looked for bed bugs before sleeping and I’m pretty pissed considering I’m still swigging Benadryl and applying topicals 6 days later. Praying I didn’t bring any home with me and suitcase is quarantined outside. Considering this is a resort it could use some corridor updates as well as key card updates to both rooms and exterior access for the price charged per night. Would not stay again even though the pool was one of the highlights of our trip.
I don't understand how the reviews are high here. This place is overpriced and completely filthy head to toe. Stained dirty carpets and sauna like temperature throughout the hallways. Rooms with balconies are completely open with no privacy so other guests can walk by your room and see into your windows. The only curtains for privacy are complete black out ones so you have to completely block out your lake view and get zero natural light. The balconies look like they've never been cleaned, covered in spider webs, dead and alive bugs everywhere. You also can't lock the sliding doors from the outside to access the beach. The furniture including the bedding in the room also feels like it's never been cleaned or replaced since opening. You could tell none of the surfaces in our room were wiped down, lamp shades stained and askew. You could hear guests sneezing next door. The beach chairs were broken and completely rusted. All of this for $300 a night too!
