Recent reviews of the Spark by Hilton indicate a mixed experience, with some guests praising the friendly staff and cleanliness, while others have expressed concerns regarding lingering odors, noise levels, and value for the price. While the hotel offers a convenient location and helpful service, issues with room smells and building construction have been noted.
I always enjoy going to a Hilton location and have stayed in a bunch throughout the country. This is my first time staying at a Spark location, so I can’t speak for the others, but my experience was thrown off immediately. Upon pulling in, we noticed a guest services employee smoking right outside the front doors and chatting with an older gentleman (not an employee) who was also smoking. When we walked up to the door, she asked if we were here to check in and put out her cigarette before following us inside to check us in. This was disappointing and it felt like we had arrived in an undesirable Chicago neighborhood or something. This was especially disappointing to me because there were all sorts of no smoking signs everywhere you looked. She wasn’t smoking inside, but of course, the smell lingers so it felt like she might as well have been. Otherwise, she was very sweet and professional. When we arrived at our floor, there was a distinct weed smell. Again, disappointing and unsettling. Hilton is known to me as a higher end, almost luxurious, option and this location did not meet that expectation because of our experiences.
Needed a room near the hospital and checked out Spark as first option. Was casually chatting with Dawn about family in hospital and she was very helpful and accommodating in booking us a great room. Dawn made us feel special!
Pleasantly surprised. The staff, all of them, I stayed two seperate nights in one week and all of them were kind and friendly and helpful. The bedding was soft and comfortable, the mattress was a delight. I needed a hot shower and the toiletries provided were 5 star. The breakfast was a delight as well. I’ve found my go to hotel.
Fabulous toilet paper! (Bet you never saw THAT in a review before.) It's true. Little things make a difference! Our room was clean and it was nice. They had the best price in the area, and we felt it was a great value. They don't have a hot breakfast, but they do have cereal and it was okay. We would stay again, for sure.
A little more outside of downtown, but still less than 30 mins to Old Mission Point and 15 to downtown TC. Definitely a “no frills” Hilton experience, light breakfast is a nice touch. Hotel was quiet and set back from the road. Staff was very friendly, rooms were clean, updated, and comfortable. Would stay again if in the area!
The room was clean. We liked the location of the hotel. The staff were very polite and very helpful. Breakfast was lacking, but stocked. Not safe for Celiac folks. Coffee was actually quite good. Dislike that I can’t make a cup of coffee in the privacy of my own room at 4AM.
Before our 2-day stay, we were expecting a mediocre stay. Upon arrival, our room was ready at 3:05 ( the time we checked in), rooms were very clean with updated bathrooms and plenty of towels. Staff was incredibly friendly, even cleaning staff asked us about our stay in passing. Would highly recommend for a short stay. No hot breakfast or microwave in room but that was not advertised. Overall a 10/10 experience.
I almost didn’t book here because there wasn’t that great of reviews.. but then I figured I prefer to stay with Hiltons and never have had issues with one. I had a one night stay and have no real complaints. Everything was clean, up to date rooms/bathroom - breakfast was basic but good (typical hotel breakfast). If you ask my husband he’d say his only complaint was that the elevator was slow, but other than that, I’d definitely stay here again! Front desk was always pleasant and greeting!
I was a bit worried leading up to my stay after seeing the horrible reviews, but was honestly pleasantly surprised. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very pleasant to interact with. The staff mentioned that if you select a room in the app and skip the front desk, it will let you select a room that hasn't been cleaned (maybe that's what some of the other reviews were talking about) Our stay wasn't perfect, there are some issues I'll outline here: The walls are a bit thin (as mentioned in other reviews). My guess is this is due to it being an old building that was converted. We could hear people stomping around upstairs, doors slamming and dogs barking. It was noticeable but I wouldn't say it kept me up, but YMMV based on your neighbors. The breakfast is pretty awful, I know it's free and it's a budget hotel, but was expecting at least some warm offerings. The windows didn't lock very well and were missing a screen (which was particularly concerning for us at ground floor). Lastly, the last thing I'd mention is that, for a budget hotel the asking price of $300+ a night seemed steep. To summarize: We had a pleasant stay here. If you are ok with the price, have tempered expectations and check in with the front desk when you come in, you should have a good stay.
