The Traverse City KOA consistently receives positive reviews, highlighted by spacious campsites, a wide array of amenities including a pool, train ride, and playground, and convenient access to local attractions. While some reviewers mention limited shade and potential WiFi issues, the generally friendly staff and well-maintained facilities contribute to a positive overall experience.
The campground has been expanded and has a LOT of pull through sites. We had a wooded back in site and it was GREAT. We didnt have time to enjoy the pool, but the kids loved the bounce pillow, playground and train ride that they had over the weekend! No issues with the site (call ahead if you dont have a bathroom in your camper to make sure youre closer to the showerhouse like I did). Employees were extremely friendly and very helpful. Great location to travel all around upper Michigan!
As with most KOA's service is always impeccable. The texting svc is so convenient. We were there for work not holiday so sadly were unable to participate in the activities. Rooms were clean (floors not so much) comfortable, and gave us just what we needed. We do wish there was a place to wash our dishes & utensils nearer to our cabin. We felt safe and quiet hours were respected. We always felt like someone was available in case we needed them for any reason & our questions were always answered with kindness & enthusiasm. Would absolutely recommend
My family and I have stayed here a few times now and every time has been a very enjoyable experience. It’s perfect for families with children. They have a very nice pool, a great park, and some other great activities for children to enjoy like the wiggle train. My little girls actually refer to this campground as the wiggle train campground and ask to come back all the time just for that activity. The park itself and the bathrooms are very nice and super clean. We came up this past weekend specifically for the Cherry Capital Cup soccer tournament and it was the perfect spot for us. It’s within a reasonable driving distance to the soccer fields and when our daughter’s team made it to the finals the owners allowed us a later checkout to accommodate for the later game on Sunday. We look forward to coming back and absolutely recommend this campground to others looking for a great place to stay near Traverse City.
We are camping. Very pleased with the facility. Large sites that are very well maintained. There is a nice store with lots of goodies. Nice bath houses. If in the area would not hesitate to stay again.
Large, clean spaces for campers with very pleasant amenities. Many cabins available for those without a tent or camper. Grills and outdoor furniture included. Large outdoor chess set daily "train rides" for the young and young at heart, sitting area in a wooded garden of sorts, a dog park, a pool, and a lively camp store all await. Convenient location just off highway 37 with nearby access to many interesting locations in north western Michigan. Bring your family, bring your pets, and spend some time outdoors at the Travers City KOA!
We can't speak highly enough about our stay here. The grounds are impeccable and although we didn't have children or dogs along the playground areas and private fenced dog enclosure was par excellence. Then we ran into an emergency situation late Saturday where our powered awning came apart at one end. I'm handicapped and my wife just had her shoulder replaced. I called the after hours number to see if they had an 8 ft step ladder since we couldn't retract the awning. Within 5 minutes Dewey and Dawn showed up and 20 minutes later it's fixed and retracted. I can't thank them enough for their caring attentiveness to our situation. They are the epitome of excellent people. If you're looking for an incredible location catering to families and pets make a point to stay here. You will be more than pleased
Came after pool area was closed but looks like a fun area for Summer. Rented a deluxe cabin w bathroom. Fantastic. Clean. Bed was actually very comfortable (a nice surprise). Campground clean. Nice big pull thru sites. Jumping pillows, big chess and checkers, cute photo op areas.
We had a great week here. It was easy access to the Sleeping Bear Sand dunes NS, close to Traverse city for needs, and small towns with food options. The KOA had lots of fun kid activities during the stay, mini golf for free, pool, jump pad, and any RC course ! Ice, firewood and pizza can be delivered to to your site. Trash pickup up every morning. We had a great stay.
We stay at KOA for the amenities. Yes, it’s more pricey than some parks but we like that we know what to expect from KOA. We stayed in one of the new pull through full hook up sites, it was spacious but not shady. They planted new trees so some shade will come. The pool is nice. They only have one shower house, I think they plan to add another but it’s not built yet. The showers were clean and the laundry was convenient. The pool was fantastic. We enjoyed the free mini golf. Definitely go eat at Patty Cakes!
Absolutely amazing experience. They are so accommodating here! They have someone take you to your campsite when you first arrive, they take your trash, clean out your fire pit, deliver fire wood and pizza and other things. The store is awesome, kids LOVED the train and foam party. I love that they send you texts reminding you of upcoming events. This place was so well maintained, clean, quiet, and the other campers were kind and respectful. My husband and I agreed this will be one of our go-to camping spots every year.
