Great Wolf Lodge receives diverse feedback centered on its family-friendly indoor water park and extensive activities. While guests frequently praise the cleanliness, safety, and helpfulness of the staff, experiences regarding value and noise levels can vary significantly.
I was prepared to loathe this place, but was pleasantly surprised by a relaxing midwinter break with the fam. We got a great deal on a wolf den room and read the fine print, so were ready for the parking charge. Liam, at check-in, was wonderfully welcoming and helped us get a softer wristband for our sensory sensitive kiddo. We arrived early to play at the water park (~1pm) and we got a text alert shortly after to let us know our room was ready. So grateful for the ability to retreat from the noise and we really enjoyed the wolf den layout for two bigs/two smalls. We brought our own snacks and got local takeout to save some $$$. There was some thumping and running sound from the floor above, but nothing wildly out of line for a kids' paradise. The "lazy" river was more like a mario kart track/frogger situation, but the vigilance of the lifeguards was very reassuring as I did my best to chase down my water puppies. I was seriously impressed by the professionalism of all the water park crew, especially how patiently they redirected any rowdy behaviour and ran frequent safety checks. Can't believe I'm saying this, but we'll be back! Pro tip: there was a retractable clothes line in our shower - very nice for hanging wet suits!
Would have been great if not for the cost. Way overpriced. We had gotten a gift card for Christmas, otherwise we would have never done it. One night (Saturday) with two wolf passes was $800. As others have stated, after you pay over $700 to stay one night, they charge $20 for parking. The waterpark is not bad but not huge. My kids (7 years) are probably aging out of it and were bored after an hour and a half. The MagiQuest was fun, bowling was fun. The arcade was expensive, it costs about $2 per play, but they were able to get decent prizes with their tickets. The wolf pass was probably worth it and it was nice for the kids to feel like they could do all the things that we might not always say yes to, so kind of like a “yes day”. We didn’t eat there, there are plenty of places nearby to get pizza or takeout. Service was fine, we had one exceptional encounter with a great employee in the shop. The room was fine, nothing great but nothing bad. Overall it was a good experience, just not worth the cost.
Absolutely amazing experience for our family vacation. The hospitality was second to none, any issues were addressed very quickly. Unfortunately, we ended up catching hand, foot, mouth disease the last night we were there. We have been battling an entire week, with in running through our family one by one. Not exactly the week we expected after taking a week off from our vacation. Bring hand sanitizer, water shoes and your own life jackets. And a little patience, I'd say half the parents don't watch their kids at all, so if you're on the last river with your toddler, expect to be getting elbowed by kids horsing around.
Our stay at Great Wolf Lodge Traverse City was a fantastic experience for families, especially if you have kids who love staying active and entertained. The indoor water park is the main attraction and easily keeps kids busy for hours with water slides, wave pools, splash zones, and interactive play structures designed for different age groups. Outside of the water park, there are plenty of activities like MagiQuest adventures, arcade games, crafts, and nightly events that make it feel like there’s always something going on. It’s nice not having to leave the resort to keep the kids engaged. What really stood out was how well the lodge balances fun for kids while still giving parents a chance to relax. There are comfortable seating areas throughout, and parents can enjoy access to a bar offering alcoholic beverages, making it easy to unwind while the kids enjoy the attractions. The atmosphere is family-friendly without feeling overwhelming, and staff do a great job keeping things organized and clean. Overall, it’s a great destination for a family getaway in Traverse City — a place where kids make memories and parents can still enjoy some downtime too.
Had a great time over winter break here with my family! Water park was fun and the rooms were clean and cozy! Staff was friendly and personable! I recommend especially if you have children. Food was a little higher priced than usual but that’s to be expected. They also had a variety of activities for children to do, including a story time with Santa! Quiet time was at 11pm and the entire hotel abided by that and things calmed down nicely! Over all a great trip & I will return as it was definitely geared towards families and creating memories! ?
Personally, we didn’t feel it was worth the price, especially considering how many great indoor waterparks Michigan has to offer. Paying extra for parking felt excessive, and the waterpark itself is fairly small. It was also extremely overcrowded during our visit. That said, the lifeguards did seem very well trained and excellent at what they do. On a positive note, the waterpark food options were surprisingly good. We tried the pizza and nachos and really enjoyed both. We also ate at the sit-down restaurant: lunch was a good experience, but dinner was disappointing due to very slow service and food that was just okay. Unfortunately, we also had a terrible experience the first night due to noise issues that lasted until after midnight. Even with two sound machines running in our room, it sounded like an airplane taking off repeatedly for hours. The front desk wasn’t very helpful, and while we typically don’t complain about noise, this was truly excessive.
Rooms are probably the cleanest rooms I’ve ever stayed in at a hotel. Our kids thought the bunkbed tent was awesome and the beds were so comfy! Love the wristband option to open the room door. So handy. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful and made the overall experience fun and memorable for our kids. And the waterpark itself was super clean and the lifeguards are top notch! Every once in awhile a dummy would be placed in the pool and the lifeguards caught it in no time and retrieved it. We keep a super close eye on our kids in water, but I felt like my kids were super safe in their hands even as they get older. Definitely will be back!
Kids had fun. I jad a blast also. Water park was smaller then I expected. Customer Service was wonderful. Prices were what was expected being a resort. Our family bought the breakfast voucher. I do feel like with the breakfast voucher we were ignored after our drink order was put in due to the fact we had a voucher and not a walk in.
We stayed here for one night in the balcony family suite for me, my husband and our daughter for her first birthday. Our experience was outstanding from start to finish! Frank the greeter is a precious angel! He was very welcoming, informative, loving and just a good vibe. He is who set our vacation off to an incredible start! Friendly staff, delicious food, clean, quiet room with the most comfortable beds I’ve ever laid in. Our daughter enjoyed the waterpark, especially the water play tables! The waterpark towels were warm and cozy. We will be back. Thank you again Frank much love to you.
